Social Media Excellence For Non-Profits


With two million charities in the United States, raising money has become a difficult task for non-profits. Gone are the simple days when you could raise money on the road or hit people with cold calls.

Through Google Ads, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, charities can raise money, engage their audience and tell the world how they are making a difference.

The ALS association is known for its kick-ass money raising campaign. Either you dump a bucket of ice on your head or/and you donate $100 to the ALS association. This campaign went viral on social media and raised $100 million in only two months.

If you are running a non-profit, here is how you can use digital marketing to raise money:

YouTube

Upload videos to tell people how you are making a difference. Tell them about your impact on society. You need simple equipment to make such videos. Focus on affected people not on wishy-washy phrases.

If you are not sure how to create a compelling story –YouTube has tips on its website. YouTube also allows you to add a donate button to your videos.

Google Ad Grants Program

Facebook and Twitter

Facebook seems like a great platform for non-profits but it has some serious disadvantages. For example, posts reach only 16% of your intended audience. This means if a non-profit has 20000 likes, only 32000 are reached through posts. Currently, there is no Facebook Adgrants Program – but there might be one soon – thanks to a petition on change.org.

Twitter is a great tool to create awareness, raise money and build followers. Twitter provides free advertising for non-profits and you can get yourself verified for maximum impact.
