Lorrie Orton Heath

Principal Attorney

Lorrie is a principal attorney with Orton Heath Law Firm in Austin and is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in Texas. She routinely consults with individual and corporate clients across various industry segments, including Medical Devices, Life Sciences, Healthcare, and Consumer. By serving in a general counsel role for her clients, Lorrie is able to advise on a wide range of important business concerns, including strategy, development, commercial negotiations, legal agreements, and prevention and risk management. 

She is also a certified master  trainer and is qualified to provide significant guidance on the development and implementation of corporate compliance programs. 

 

Lorrie has significant experience in corporate operations management, honed at Fortune 500s and mid-size companies. Her expertise includes strategic corporate planning and budgeting, product development and commercialization, marketing and sales management, contracting and pricing, and corporate and sales training. She actively participated in the acquisition of regulatory approvals (FDA, CE, HPB, etc.) on over 20 Class III medical devices, developed and commercially launched hundreds of Class I-III medical devices, managed diverse teams, consulted regularly with physicians, scientists, engineers, and inventors, and negotiated complex equipment and device acquisitions at healthcare systems around the globe.

 

At medical device titan St Jude Medical, Lorrie served as Director of Marketing for the Cardiovascular Division, where she built and led a team of product marketing managers who globally launched various cardiac devices, including a state-of-the-art porcine tissue heart valve line. At GE Healthcare, a Fortune 100, Lorrie successfully negotiated with C-suite executives, healthcare systems, and cardiologists on multimillion-dollar vascular imaging labs and suites. 

 

As Vice President/General Manager for CardioGenesis (Cryolife), a manufacturer of lasers and cardiac devices, she led an award-winning regional management team encompassing the western half of the United States and the Pacific Rim. At Sulzer Carbomedics (Sorin), she created and implemented the Company’s first nationally accredited physician training program, while cross-training all employees, including senior leadership, on a corporate quality initiative. 

 

Prior to moving into middle and senior management, Lorrie was a successful territory manager and sales trainer at Boston Scientific, where she consulted with surgeons, cardiologists, radiologists, and nephrologists on the selection and utilization of cutting-edge device technologies, including balloons, stents, vena cava filters, and vascular bypass grafts. She was fortunate to have received numerous performance awards; her recognition included induction into the prestigious Ring Club, President’s Club, City of the Year, and Most Valuable Player. 

 

Prior to joining the healthcare industry, Lorrie served in various operations management roles for global giant Nestle Foods Corporation, including leading an award-winning regional business unit and directing sales and promotional activities at the corporate headquarters of grocery mega retailers HEB, Kroger, Randall’s, Albertson’s, and Winn Dixie. 

 

Lorrie graduated from law school in St Paul, Minnesota and was privileged to have served as extern/law clerk for both the Honorable Lezlie Ott Marek, District Court Judge, Ramsey County, as well as partner attorneys Teresa McClain and Mark Hallberg at Hallberg + McClain, P.A., a leading plaintiffs firm specializing in medical malpractice litigation. 

 

Lorrie graduated from high school and college in Austin. She enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with her family.

Representative Experience 
 

 Analyzing and assisting businesses and entrepreneurs with development of comprehensive business plans and corporate legal strategies. 
 Assisting businesses and entrepreneurs in structure and development of various legal agreements, including employment and independent contractor agreements, confidentiality/non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), non-compete agreements, and sales contracts.
