RETÜL BIKE FITTING APPOINTMENTS

A proper bike fit is essential for optimal performance, efficiency, injury prevention and comfort on the bike, and will provide a rider with the most economic means of expending energy. A proper bike fit will also prevent pain that is common in the knee, hip, and lower back, particularly with riders who are trying to adapt their bodies to the bike they already have purchased.

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT THE WAY RETÜL DOES BIKE FITTING?

Retül uses a cycling-specific 3D motion capture system that reads a rider's movements while he or she is pedaling on the bike, and records all three planes of movement (3D). This type of data reflects how a rider actually rides a bike and cannot accurately be captured with 2D video, static fitting, or eyeball fitting. Retül's dynamic fit tools allow a bike fitter to make fast and easy adjustments to a rider's position using objective and highly accurate fit data to guide the changes.

 

 

Bike fit decisions should be made while considering the individual goals, biomechanics, strengths and limitations of each rider. From professional athletes, to competitive age-groupers to recreational riders and commuters, every cyclist will benefit from a proper bike fit. Retül tools and technology can be applied to road, mountain and TT/tri riding positions.

SWIM ANALYSIS

If you are looking to improve your swim technique we encourage an underwater video analysis. Using both our underwater and overhead camera, our coach will videotape, analyze, and explain swim stroke bio-mechanics and efficiency. Our coach will take you through the technical aspects of swimming; you will then be guided through a series of progressive and specific drills/exercises that will enhance your overall performance and fitness level.

 

Initial analysis: $195

Follow-up sessions: $150

RUN ANALYSIS

Using the Natural Running technique, our coaches will videotape, analyze, and explain biomechanics and efficiency so that you will know how to run correctly.  Specific drills and exercises will enhance your overall performance and keep you injury free.  Learning the Natural Running will help you: prevent overuse injuries, move faster with less effort, unlock your natural potential, and get better results.  We will give you the tools and confidence to take your racing/training performance to the next level.  

 

Initial analysis: $195

Follow-up sessions: $150

The best bike analysis starts with a good bike fit.  Please schedule a bike fit with our Retul fitters.

"With power meters, and to a lesser extent heart rate monitors, we have very precise ways to measure training stress.  What can be hard to quantify and track however is stressors outside of our workouts.  Busy workdays, family commitments, or a heavy school load can drastically contribute to our overall stress levels.  This is where heart rate variability can be a valuable tool. Heart rate variability (HRV) is basically the variation between heart rates measured down to milliseconds.  In a well-rested athlete the body will make micro-adjustments to heart rate based on breathing patterns as well as other physiological processes.  The strength and balance of the autonomic nervous system (both sympathetic and parasympathetic) tells us the propensity of an athlete to be over-stressed, or how resilient an athlete will be to training.”

So how can you measure HRV?

Camp Bennett uses the Nerve Express HRV monitor created by the Russians to develop and identify Olympic athletes and personnel for special forces.  Nerve-Express is a fully automatic, non-invasive computer-based system designed for quantitative assessment of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) based on Heart Rate Variability (HRV) analysis.  Nerve-Express is the first and only system to solve the problem of SNS-PSNS quantification.

To determine your power zones our USAT coaches will run you through test to determine your Functional Threshold Power (FTPw).  Training with power gives an athlete an additional layer of precision in training by providing an instantaneous measurement of work, which allows the athlete to know exactly how hard they are riding at any given moment.  Power levels can be measured on the bike and on the run.

HEART RATE ZONE TESTING

Have our USAT coaches set up your HR zones for your swim, bike, and run training.  Come ready to sweat as we perform test to determine your lactate threshold heart rate (LTHR) and then  chart out your heart rate zones.  LTHR test are best done in the BASE or BUILD phase of your training.
